Hi everyone, I’m trying to figure out how to play short audio clips upon a SmartThings event. I’ve searched the forum extensively but haven’t found a clear solution yet. Here’s my setup:
- Android 4 phone with Tasker installed
- Speaker connected to an amplifier
- Raspberry Pi (various versions)
My goal is to trigger audio clips when certain events occur in my home, like when someone enters a room or when a device is activated. I’ve considered using Tasker with SmartThings, but I’m not sure how to integrate the audio playback seamlessly. Any ideas or experiences would be greatly appreciated!
For example, I’d love to have a welcoming message play when my doorbell rings or a friendly reminder when it’s time to leave for work. This could add a nice personal touch to my home automation setup.
I’m also curious if anyone has successfully used Raspberry Pi to handle the audio playback alongside SmartThings. I have some programming experience, so I’m open to more technical solutions, but I want to keep things as simple as possible for now.
