Integrating SmartThings with Bixby: A Smooth Experience

As a long-time Samsung Galaxy user, I’ve been excited to explore the integration between SmartThings and Bixby. After updating my Samsung Galaxy S10 to Android 11 with One UI 3.0, I noticed some quirks with the SmartThings integration in Bixby. Specifically, when setting up automations, selecting ‘SmartThings > Control devices’ as a ‘then’ action caused Bixby to crash back to the previous screen. However, selecting ‘SmartThings > Scenes’ worked without any issues. While this isn’t a deal-breaker for me, it does highlight some areas where the integration could be smoother. I’ve found that by using scenes instead of direct device controls, I can still achieve the automations I want without any hiccups. It’s a minor inconvenience, but it doesn’t detract from the overall positive experience of using SmartThings with Bixby. I’m hopeful that future updates will iron out these kinks and make the integration even more seamless. Overall, I’m impressed with how well SmartThings integrates with other Samsung ecosystem components, and I look forward to seeing further improvements in the coming updates.
