I’ve recently made the switch from Homewizard to Homey, and it’s been an exciting journey! Most of my devices have worked seamlessly, but there was one hurdle I wanted to share my experience with—connecting my Smartware SH5-TSO-A motion detectors to Homey. At first glance, it wasn’t immediately obvious how to integrate them, but with a bit of research and experimentation, I found a solution that works perfectly.
Initially, I was under the impression that the Homewizard app within Homey would automatically detect and connect all my devices, but the motion detectors weren’t showing up. After some digging, I discovered that Homey supports these devices through its Zigbee integration. Here’s what I did:
- Ensure Zigbee Compatibility: I confirmed that my Smartware motion detectors are Zigbee-enabled, which they are. This was key since Homey has great Zigbee support.
- Pairing Process: I followed Homey’s guide for adding Zigbee devices. It involved holding down the pairing button on the motion detector and waiting for Homey to detect it. It took a couple of tries, but they paired successfully.
- Configuration: Once paired, I set up some basic automations. For example, when the motion detector detects movement in the hallway, it turns on the hallway lights and adjusts the thermostat slightly. It’s made evenings much more convenient!
I wanted to share this in case anyone else is in the process of switching ecosystems and is looking to integrate their Smartware devices. The key takeaway is to check for Zigbee compatibility and follow the pairing instructions carefully. It’s amazing how much smoother life can get with these little tweaks!
If anyone has tips or experiences to share about integrating other devices, I’d love to hear them. Let’s keep the community growing and learning together! ![]()
