Integrating Sonos with JRule for Seamless Audio Playback

I’ve been experimenting with integrating Sonos into my smart home setup, and I wanted to share my experience and a cool project I’ve been working on. If you’re a fan of Sonos and want to enhance your audio experience without interrupting your current playback, you might find this interesting!Earlier this year, I stumbled upon an addon for JRule that connects to local websockets and allows playing audio clips on Sonos devices. The best part? It doesn’t interrupt whatever is currently playing—it simply adds the clip on top and resumes the original audio once the clip finishes. I’ve been using it to trigger custom alerts or notifications without disturbing my music. It’s been a lifesaver for quick reminders or alerts during movies or podcasts! If you’re curious, I’ve shared the project on GitHub (GitHub). It’s still in early testing, so I’d love to hear if anyone else finds it useful or runs into any issues. The potential for customizing audio notifications is huge, and I’m excited to see how the community can expand on this.On another note, I’ve also been exploring ways to integrate my Echo Dot with other devices. Turning it into a dedicated speaker without Alexa controls was a fun challenge, and I’d love to hear if anyone has tips or tricks for optimizing this setup. The flexibility of smart home devices never ceases to amaze me!Finally, I’d love to hear about your favorite smart home integrations or any unique projects you’ve undertaken. The community here is incredible, and it’s always inspiring to see what others are doing with their setups. Let’s keep the ideas flowing!
