Hi everyone, I’m diving into the world of home automation and have been exploring some cool setups. I wanted to share my experiences and maybe get some tips from the community!
First off, I’ve been trying to integrate my Spotify Premium account with my Sony AVR without using my phone as a Bluetooth streamer. I’ve installed the Spotify integration in Home Assistant, but it keeps asking for my phone to stream. Does anyone have a workaround for this? I’d love to control my music directly through HA without the hassle of my phone!
On another note, I’ve been experimenting with my Hue bulbs and SmartThings. Initially, I paired them with an Echo Plus, but now I want to switch them over to my SmartThings hub. I’ve heard it’s straightforward, but I’m running into some issues. I tried resetting the bulbs using a Hue dimmer switch, but they still don’t show up in SmartThings. Any advice on how to make this transition smoother would be amazing!
I also wanted to share a success story. I set up a motion sensor in my hallway to turn on the lights at night, but I added a condition to only activate if the living room lights are off. It’s been working perfectly, saving energy without compromising safety. It’s such a neat way to customize my home’s lighting based on my habits!
Lastly, I’ve been impressed with how my Nuki lock handles remote check-ins for Airbnb guests. It had a hiccup recently, but thankfully, another user in my network could unlock it for the guests. It taught me the importance of having backup access methods. I’m now more confident in relying on smart locks for my rental properties.
