Hi everyone! I’m new to Hubitat but have some experience with home automation, and I’m excited to dive deeper. I have a system where my cars send text messages when they enter or exit a geofenced area around my house. I’d love to use these messages to trigger my smart home devices, like turning on the heating before I arrive. Currently, the geofence gives me about 30 minutes of notice, which is just enough time to warm up the house by 1 degree Celsius. I’m thinking of adding another geofence to give the system an extra hour to get the temperature up.
I have an Android phone without a SIM card, and I’m wondering if that can help capture the text messages. I also have iPhones, so maybe I can use the HE app to fire off a shortcut when a message is received. Any ideas or experiences you’ve had with this would be fantastic!
I’m also curious if others have integrated text messages into their smart home setups and how they’ve managed it. Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated!
