Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience integrating traditional lighting with smart devices. I’ve been using Hue bulbs for years, but I recently decided to upgrade my lighting system to include some traditional wall switches alongside my smart setup. The goal was to create a seamless experience where both systems work together without any hiccups.
Initially, I was a bit concerned about compatibility. Would the smart bulbs recognize the traditional switches? Would there be any lag or inconsistency in the automation? I did some research and found that with the right configuration, it’s entirely possible to have both systems coexist harmoniously. I ended up using a combination of smart plugs and scene automation to bridge the gap between the two.
One thing I learned is the importance of testing each component individually before setting up the full system. I started by testing the smart bulbs with the traditional switches to ensure they responded correctly. Once that was sorted, I moved on to integrating the smart plugs and setting up the automation rules. It was a bit trial and error, but the end result was worth it!
