Integrating Vera and Fibaro Controllers: A Learning Journey

I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation, and it’s been an exciting journey! One of my recent projects has been experimenting with integrating two different Z-Wave controllers: the Vera Lite and the Fibaro Home Center Lite. While both systems have their strengths, I wanted to see if I could leverage their best features together.

The Vera Lite, in my experience, has been fantastic for compatibility and flexibility. It supports a wide range of plugins and scripts, which has been incredibly useful for customizing my setup. On the other hand, the Fibaro HCL offers a sleek and intuitive user interface, making it a pleasure to navigate and control my devices.

I decided to set up the Fibaro HCL as the primary controller, with the Vera Lite acting as a secondary. This involved disabling Vera’s automatic device configuration and allowing Fibaro to discover the Vera devices. The process was a bit trial and error, but it’s been rewarding to see how the two systems can work together.

Now, the challenge is controlling Vera-specific plugins and modules directly from the Fibaro interface. For example, I’d love to trigger my Sonos speakers using Vera’s Sonos plugin from the Fibaro HCL. I’m curious if anyone has successfully sent commands from Fibaro to Vera for such integrations. Any insights or tips would be greatly appreciated!

This experiment has taught me a lot about system compatibility and the importance of a good user interface. It’s been a great learning experience, and I’m excited to continue exploring how to maximize the potential of both controllers together. If anyone has similar experiences or advice, I’d love to hear about them!
