Hey everyone! I’ve been exploring ways to integrate my Vera system with other platforms, and I stumbled upon a fantastic method to send text messages from Vera to Telegram. I thought I’d share my experience in case anyone else is interested in setting this up. 
First off, I downloaded and installed Telegram on my phone, which was pretty straightforward. Then, I followed the steps to create a bot using BotFather. It was a bit confusing at first, but once I got the token, things started falling into place. I kept the token safe because I knew it would be essential later on.
Next, I had to figure out my chat ID. I remember reading somewhere that you can get this by visiting a specific webpage with your token. I did that and managed to extract my chat ID without too much hassle. Now, the fun part! I created a scene in Vera and added some Lua code to send messages to Telegram. It took a few tries to get the placeholders right, but once everything was set up, it worked like magic!
I can now receive notifications from Vera directly in Telegram, which is super handy. For example, I get alerts when my garage door opens or if there’s any motion detected at night. It’s given me peace of mind knowing I can monitor my home from anywhere.
