Integrating Wiser Smart System with Zigbee Hub: A Success Story

I recently embarked on an exciting project to integrate my Wiser Smart System with a standard Zigbee hub, and I’m thrilled to share my journey with the community! :tada:

For those who may not be familiar, the Wiser Smart System is a legacy heating control solution that, while no longer sold, still has a dedicated following. I’ve always been intrigued by the idea of repurposing older smart home devices, and with a bit of research, I discovered that these devices are essentially Zigbee-compatible—they just need a little coaxing to join a standard network.

The process wasn’t without its challenges. I started by purchasing a Zigbee hub during a Black Friday sale, and I must admit, the initial setup was a bit overwhelming. However, with some trial and error, I managed to get the basic thermostat controls working. It was a rewarding experience, especially since I’ve never worked with Zigbee devices before!

I documented my progress on GitHub, sharing the device handler and binding app I developed. While I hesitate to call it a full release just yet, I’ve had positive feedback from a few users who’ve managed to get their devices working too. It’s been amazing to see others benefit from my experimentation!

If anyone else has experience with these devices or would like to collaborate, I’d love to hear from you! Let’s continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible with smart home integration. :rocket:

Thanks for reading, and here’s to more innovative projects in the future! :bulb:
