I’ve been tinkering with my smart home setup, and I wanted to share my experience with integrating my Wyze Cam 3 into Google’s Home/Away routines. I’ve found this integration to be incredibly useful, and I’d love to help others achieve the same setup!
First, I’ll start by outlining my setup. I use Google’s Home/Away routines to automatically control my lights and plugs based on my location. However, I noticed that the routines couldn’t directly turn on or off my Wyze Cam 3. After some research, I discovered a clever workaround by plugging my camera into a Wyze plug. This way, I can control the camera’s power through the plug, effectively turning it on or off as needed.
Here’s how I set it up:
- Pair the Wyze Plug with the Camera: I plugged my Wyze Cam 3 into the Wyze plug and ensured both devices were connected to my network.
- Create Routines in Google Home: I set up two routines—one for when I leave the house (turning on the plug and, consequently, the camera) and another for when I return (turning off the plug and the camera).
- Test the Setup: I tested the routines multiple times to ensure everything worked seamlessly. It’s been working perfectly for weeks now!
