Integrating Wyze Scale with Home Assistant: A Smart Weight Tracking Solution

I recently purchased a Wyze scale and have been exploring ways to integrate it with Home Assistant to create a seamless weight tracking system. My goal is to trigger events such as lights or sounds when weight goals are achieved, and also to use the scale to trigger a DSLR camera for a fitness project I’m working on. Additionally, I’d love to export the data daily, weekly, and monthly without having to manually request it from the app. Here’s what I’ve discovered so far:

  1. Integration with Home Assistant: I’ve successfully connected the Wyze scale to Home Assistant using the Wyze API. This allows me to track weight and body fat percentage directly within Home Assistant. I’ve also set up automations to notify me when I reach specific weight goals, which has been incredibly motivating!

  2. Triggering a DSLR Camera: To integrate the scale with my DSLR project, I’ve used IFTTT to create a trigger that sends a notification to my phone when I step on the scale. From there, I’ve set up a virtual switch in Home Assistant that triggers the camera to take a photo. It’s a bit of a workaround, but it’s working perfectly for my needs!

  3. Data Export: I’ve been experimenting with using the Wyze API to export data to Google Sheets. This way, I can track my progress over time without having to open the Wyze app. It’s been a fantastic way to visualize my progress and stay motivated.

I’d love to hear if anyone else has integrated their Wyze scale with Home Assistant or has suggestions for improving this setup. Let’s share tips and tricks to make the most out of our smart devices!
