Integrating X10 Devices in Smart Home Automation

I’ve been on a journey to integrate my X10 devices into my smart home ecosystem, and it’s been quite an adventure! After years of using Indigo on a Mac mini, I decided to switch to openHAB-2.4 for more flexibility and expanded functionality. While getting Z-wave up and running was smooth, the X10 devices have been a bit of a puzzle.

I came across references to the mochad binding for Linux, but adapting it for macOS has been tricky. I’ve spent hours searching forums and tweaking configurations, but I’m still not quite there. If anyone has successfully used mochad on macOS or has alternative solutions, I’d be thrilled to hear about your experiences!

On another note, I’ve been exploring how to control UPnP devices through Vera. It’s fascinating to see all the devices advertising themselves on the network, but figuring out how to actually interact with them has been a challenge. I’ve discovered that creating XML LUUP config files might be the key, but I’m not entirely sure how to go about it. If anyone has tips or resources, I’d greatly appreciate the guidance!

Smart home automation is such a dynamic field, and every challenge brings a new learning opportunity. I look forward to hearing from the community and sharing more insights as I continue this exciting journey.
