ION Sensor Integration & Smart Lighting Setup

Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and questions with you all. First off, I’m really excited about integrating my new ION wireless door sensor with my Vera controller. I’ve heard great things about Vera’s compatibility with Z-Wave devices, but I’m curious if anyone has successfully used an ION plunger sensor without an alarm system. My goal is to have the Vera detect when my door is closed and automatically lock it after 5 seconds. If the door remains open, I don’t want it to auto-lock. I’m hoping this can all be done with just the sensor, Vera, and my Z-Wave enabled lock. Any guidance would be awesome!

On another note, I’m in the process of remodeling my kitchen and living areas, and I’m looking to integrate some recessed LED lighting. I’ve come across a lot of options for switches and outlets, but I’m not entirely sure which ones would be best for Z-Wave integration. I’d love to hear any recommendations or specific brands that have worked well for others. I’m also thinking about wiring the recessed lighting properly, so any advice on that front would be super helpful.

Lastly, I stumbled upon a really cool script for automating the deletion of old snapshots in Home Assistant. It’s been a lifesaver for keeping my backups organized. The script mounts the necessary drives, checks for snapshots older than 7 days, and deletes them while preserving manual backups. It’s been running smoothly for me, and I thought it might be useful for others who are dealing with storage management. If anyone has tips on improving it or other backup strategies, I’d love to hear them!

Overall, it’s been a fantastic journey exploring all the possibilities with smart home tech, and I’m excited to keep learning and sharing my experiences with the community. Cheers to all the fellow enthusiasts out there! :rocket:
