iOS App Location Tracking Issues

Hey everyone! I’ve been trying to get the iOS app’s location tracking to work properly, but it’s been a bit of a puzzle. I’ll start by explaining my setup and then dive into the issue I’m facing.

I’ve set up my Home Assistant to track my iPhone’s location using GPS. It works perfectly when I manually update the location, but the automatic updates are hit or miss. I’ve noticed that the location doesn’t update unless I’m actively using the app or have it open in the background. This is a bit frustrating because I rely on the location tracking for automations like turning on lights when I arrive home.

I’ve tried a few things to fix this. First, I ensured that the app has the necessary permissions to access my location. I also checked the settings to make sure that location tracking is enabled for the app. Another thing I did was connect to my home’s VPN to see if that helps with the connection, but it didn’t make a difference.

I’ve read through some other threads where people mentioned similar issues. It seems like a common problem, but I’m hoping someone here has found a workaround or has some advice to share. I’m also curious if others are experiencing this issue or if it’s something specific to my setup.

If no one has a solution, I might have to consider alternative methods for location tracking. Maybe using a separate GPS tracker or integrating with another service. But I’d really prefer to stick with the iOS app since it’s so convenient.

I’m looking forward to hearing from the community. It’s amazing how supportive everyone is, and I’m sure someone has encountered this before. Thanks in advance for any help or insights you can provide!
