As a long-time user of the Iris v2 motion sensors with SmartThings, I can confidently say they’ve been a reliable addition to my smart home setup. However, since transitioning to Hubitat (HE) a month ago, I’ve encountered some unexpected issues with two of my sensors. The first sensor had a tough time pairing initially, requiring multiple attempts before it finally connected. Since then, it’s been hit or miss—sometimes it doesn’t report motion at all, staying inactive, while other times it gets stuck in the ‘active’ mode. Interestingly, when I removed it from HE and paired it back to my SmartThings hub, it worked perfectly again. This has me wondering if the issue is mesh-related, especially since it’s the furthest from the HE hub, about 30 feet away, and my only other Zigbee devices are Hue bulbs, which aren’t great repeaters.
The second sensor, located much closer to the hub (about 10 feet away), worked flawlessly for three weeks until it suddenly got stuck in ‘active’ mode yesterday. I haven’t had a chance to troubleshoot it yet, but it’s concerning. I’m now considering whether it’s better to keep all my motion sensors on the SmartThings hub and use HubConnect to integrate them with HE. If anyone has successfully resolved similar issues with Iris sensors on HE, I’d be grateful for any insights or solutions! ![]()
