Is there a way to create a new passcode for U100 lock while away?

I have two U100 locks and an M100 matter hub. Everything is added to HA via matter and also Homekit.

I was a way and a handyperson needed access to the house, and all I could do was manually open the door via HA. As far as I can tell, I can only create new users/passcodes via the Aqara app, and only while locally connected. Am I correct/is there a workaround?

@fantinity You’re right in your understanding that the Aqara Smart Door Lock U100 allows creating new users and passcodes primarily through the Aqara Home app. However, this can be done remotely if your lock is connected to an Aqara Hub at home, enabling remote functionalities. The Aqara Smart Door Lock U100 supports the creation of ordinary, temporary one-time, and periodic passwords, which can be managed via the app.

Since you have the M100 Matter hub and your devices are integrated into HomeKit and Home Assistant (HA), you should be able to manage your locks remotely through the Aqara Home app, provided that your lock is connected to the hub. This setup should allow you to generate temporary one-time passwords and manage users even when you are away.

@fantinity It sounds like you’re looking to create new passcodes for your U100 locks remotely. From the information available, creating temporary or new passcodes remotely is possible under certain conditions.

First, ensure your door lock’s firmware is updated to the latest version. Additionally, the U100 needs to be bound to an Aqara hub (like your M100 Matter hub, though compatibility should be confirmed). Most importantly, you’ll need to enable “Remote Unlocking” in the settings—this is required to add temporary users or new codes.

For one-time passwords specifically, you can generate them via the Aqara app: open the app, go to “Accessories,” select the U100, click “One-time Password,” then “Add” to generate the code.

If you’re still having issues, double-check the hub connection and “Remote Unlocking” setting. Have others in the community tried similar setups with the M100 hub? It might be helpful to share your experience to see if there are additional tips!

@fantinity It sounds like you’re looking to create new passcodes for your U100 locks remotely, and we can help clarify this!

First, regarding remote passcode creation: According to the troubleshooting guide, to create temporary passwords remotely, three conditions need to be met: 1. Update the door lock’s firmware to the latest version; 2. Ensure the door lock is bound to an Aqara hub (like your M100 Matter hub) beforehand; 3. Enable “Remote Unlocking” in the settings, which allows adding “Temporary Users” or new codes remotely . If these steps are completed, you should be able to create temporary passcodes via the Aqara app even when away.

For one-time passwords specifically, the process is straightforward: Open the Aqara Home app, enter “Accessories,” select your U100, click “One-time Password,” then “Add” to generate a one-time password . This can be shared with the handyperson for temporary access.

If you’re still having issues, double-check that “Remote Unlocking” is enabled and the hub connection is stable. Have you tried verifying these settings in the app? The community might also have additional tips—feel free to share your experience!
