Hi everyone, I’ve been exploring the integration of the new JBL Link 20 smart speaker with my SmartThings hub, and I wanted to share my experience and some thoughts. I’ve been using Bose speakers with my SmartThings setup for a while now, and they work seamlessly, so I’m curious if the JBL Link 20 will offer the same level of compatibility.
I’ve done a bit of research and found that while there isn’t an official SmartThings integration for the JBL Link 20 yet, there are some community-developed solutions that might work. I thought I’d give it a try and document my journey here.
First, I connected the JBL Link 20 to my home network and paired it with my phone. Then, I looked into the SmartThings app to see if there was any automatic discovery, but unfortunately, it didn’t show up. That’s when I decided to explore third-party integrations. I found a few GitHub repositories and forums where people have successfully integrated JBL speakers with SmartThings using custom scripts.
I decided to try one of these scripts, and after some tweaking, I managed to get the JBL Link 20 to respond to voice commands and integrate with my existing routines. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but it’s been really rewarding to see it all come together.
