I’ve been diving into home automation for the first time, and I must say, it’s been an exciting journey! My latest project has been transforming my galley kitchen with under and over cabinet lighting, all controlled by a single wall-mounted switch. The goal was to create a seamless, dimmable lighting system that I could also manage from my smartphone. ![]()
Initially, I wasn’t sure where to start, but I decided to go with Vera products for this project. The idea was to keep things simple at first and then expand into home security later on. After some research and trial and error, I managed to set up the system exactly as I envisioned! The Vera smart switch works like a charm, and the integration with my phone app has made controlling the lights incredibly convenient. ![]()

One thing I discovered along the way was the importance of choosing the right products for the job. I opted for a faux-mount switch with batteries, which not only keeps things sleek but also gives me the flexibility to place it exactly where I wanted. The dimmable LED lights I chose were a fantastic addition too—they provide just the right ambiance without being too harsh. ![]()
I’ve also been exploring how to expand this system in the future. The Vera ecosystem seems to offer a lot of potential for adding more smart devices, which is exciting! For now, though, I’m thrilled with how my kitchen lighting project turned out. It’s made a real difference in how I use and enjoy my space. ![]()
