Hey everyone, I wanted to share some of my experiences with KNX configuration and camera integration in my smart home setup. I’ve been using OpenHAB for a few months now, and while it’s incredibly powerful, there’s definitely a learning curve, especially when it comes to KNX bindings.
One thing I struggled with initially was getting my KNX dimmers to both read their initial values and react to updates from the bus. After some trial and error, I found that organizing my KNX groups by function (like on/off, increase/decrease, percentage, and value updates) really helped streamline the configuration. For example, I set up my dimmers with separate groups for reading and updating, which ensures that the initial state is captured and any manual changes from the wall controls are reflected in the system.
On the camera front, I’ve been experimenting with integrating a Wyze Light Strip Pro into my setup. The ability to cut the strips to size is super handy, but I was curious about whether multiple strips could be joined for longer runs. After some research and reaching out to the community, I found that while it’s technically possible, it requires careful wiring and testing to ensure seamless functionality.
I’d love to hear from others who have tackled similar projects or have tips for optimizing KNX configurations or camera installations. Also, I’m really interested in the idea of a community-driven app store mentioned in some other threads. It would be amazing to have a centralized hub where users could discover and install smart apps created by the community, with features like automatic updates and user notifications.
If anyone has any additional insights or experiences to share, I’d be happy to discuss further! Happy tinkering everyone! ![]()
