Hello everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience with integrating KNX and Shelly devices into my smart home setup. While the journey had its challenges, it also taught me a lot and I’d love to hear others’ experiences too!
The Challenge
I recently started configuring my KNX system with OpenHAB and encountered an issue where a specific item wasn’t reliably triggering a rule. The item was set to listen for events from the KNX bus, but the rule would only work sporadically, especially after a restart. This was frustrating, but I knew it was a great learning opportunity.
The Solution
After some research and troubleshooting, I realized the issue was with how the KNX binding was configured. By adjusting the binding settings and ensuring the correct event handling, the rule started working consistently. It was a great feeling to finally crack it!
Shelly Device Integration
On another note, I’ve been experimenting with Shelly devices to complement my KNX setup. I recently installed a Shelly 1PM switch and was impressed by its functionality. However, I encountered a minor hiccup with the OpenHAB binding not recognizing all channels initially. After some tweaking and consulting the community forums, everything fell into place.
Lessons Learned
This experience reinforced the importance of thorough configuration and the value of community support. It also highlighted how different devices and systems can work together seamlessly when properly set up.
I’d love to hear about others’ experiences with KNX and Shelly devices. Have you faced similar challenges? What tips or tricks have you discovered along the way? Let’s keep the conversation going!
Cheers,
