Hello everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of KNX integration with Home Assistant and wanted to share my experience, both the hurdles and the triumphs. I recently set up my KNX system using the MDT SCN IP100.01 KNX IP Router, and while the initial setup was a breeze, connecting everything proved to be an adventure.
Initially, I faced challenges with the router not responding under the tunneling option. After some research, I realized the importance of proper configuration in ETS. However, without an ETS license, things got tricky. I discovered that using the KNX IP Router’s web interface was a viable workaround for basic configurations, bypassing the need for ETS temporarily.
Here’s a tip I picked up: always ensure your KNX devices are correctly assigned and their addresses are accurately noted. This step saved me hours of troubleshooting. Additionally, verifying the router’s firmware and ensuring it’s up-to-date was crucial for stable communication.
I also found that integrating KNX with Home Assistant’s scene automation has been a game-changer. For instance, setting up a scene where lights dim and the heating adjusts based on my evening routine has made life so much more convenient.
