Kwikset 912 Lock and Z-Wave Signal Issues

Hey everyone, I’m reaching out for some advice on a Z-Wave signal issue I’m experiencing with my Kwikset 912 lever lock and Qolsys IQ2+ panel. I have a detached garage, and while the lock and panel can communicate, the distance is causing the lock batteries to drain very quickly—only lasting about two weeks. I’ve tried using GE Z-Wave switches and an Aeotec Range Extender 7 Z-Wave Repeater, but it seems the conflicting security standards (lock is S0, while the extender and switches are S2) are preventing the signal from being extended properly.

I’m curious if there’s a way to disable the encryption on the lock so the signal can be extended by the switches and extender. I’m not too concerned about security for this particular door, so it wouldn’t be a major issue for me. Any suggestions or workarounds would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve also considered moving the extender closer, but I want to avoid adding more hardware if possible. If anyone has dealt with a similar issue or has tips on optimizing the signal strength, please share your experiences. I’m really hoping to find a solution to keep the connection consistent and reduce the battery drain. Thanks in advance for your help!
