Hey everyone, I wanted to share a quick tip that might help those of you who, like me, often find themselves confused by the buttons on the WallMote. Keeping track of which button does what can be a bit of a hassle, especially when we move things around every now and then.
So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and create some labels for my WallMotes. They aren’t works of art by any means, but they’ve made a world of difference in reducing our frustration.
If anyone else is interested in making something similar, I’ve put together a template that you can use. It’s not perfectly precise, but it gets the job done. I’d love to hear if anyone improves on it or has any suggestions for tweaking the design.
The icons I used are from The Noun Project, with a few minor tweaks here and there. Best of all, these labels don’t interfere with the touch sensitivity at all—they work perfectly for clicks and holds. I’m not sure about swipe controls, though, since Hubitat doesn’t support them yet.
By the way, my spouse loved them so much that they asked for labels for the Hue Remote as well. I’ve included a template for the old Hue Remote if anyone else wants to give it a try.
It’s amazing how a little tweak like this can make such a big difference in how we interact with our smart home devices. I hope this helps someone out there who’s been struggling with the same issue! Let me know if you give it a try or if you have any other tips to share.
