LED Strips and Controller

I’m remodeling the bedroom and want to use led strips to light up the 18 x 12ft tray ceiling but the Aqara T1 strips seem like an impractical way to do it considering the short extensions. Does anyone know if Aqara is planning on releasing longer led strips or releasing a controller that would work with RGB CCT strips? I’m looking at a matter controller to work with Home Assistant and still kicking around the different strip brands.

Aqara hasn’t announced anything new and might not be suitable for your use-case without multiple runs. This could be ok if you are hiding the strips in some cove moulding or similiar. But you may be better off with more generic strips that you can do long custom lengths.

I don’t think longer extensions are planned at the moment, but I have a similar sized room and installed the LED strip on two walls. It was actually not that painful and not as expensive as I thought. You can connect them really easy without any tools.

But during installation I had the same thoughts - it would actually be easier to just buy a longer extension.

I am hiding the led strip in the cove but it seems that I might have a lot of splices that shouldn’t be necessary. I’ll have four three foot sections in the corners of the tray, two eight foot sections and two twelve foot sections.

I’ve just bought a few of these and set them up to Aqara via Matter.

Just need my LED strips and power supplies to arrive!

Nice… I ended up getting the Gledopto GLC-218M and a Mean Well 600w PSU with four 16.4 FT rolls of BFT RBCCCT and it should be here tomorrow. This is definitely uncharted territory to me so hopefully it all works out. I was surprised how much power it took for 60ft and I did oversize the PSU so it would run cool in the attic.

What strips did you go with?

I went with these: BTF-LIGHTING FCOB COB LED Strip RGBCCT Color Changing 16.4FT 960LED/m Flexible High Density Light RGB+CCT Tunable 3000K-6000K DC24V 12mm Width for Indoor Decor(No Adapter or Controller).

I’m curious to know what strips you went with as well.
