Light Up Your Life: Creative Lighting Automations with Aqara

Hey , Share some lighting automation setups I’ve cooked up using Aqara that’s made my place feel a bit more like Iron Man’s crib than a boring apartment.

So I’m kind of an obsessed smart home enthusiast (guilty), and lighting is where the magic happens, right? I’ve been using the Aqara Motion Sensor + LED strips combo to do some mood-based automations. My favorite so far? A “Late Night Chill” scene—if the time is past 10PM and motion is detected in the living room, the lights fade in dim and warm. No blinding yourself on a snack run.

Another fun one I made: Bathroom disco (don’t judge). Motion in the bathroom during a party triggers colored light fade-ins and a playlist via HomeKit and a couple bridges.

Also did a “Movie Time” scene where a double-tap on the wireless mini switch dims all lights and closes the smart curtains. Super simple but feels premium. Makes guests go “woah”.

Anyone else doing funky or useful lighting scenes like that? Would love to steal—I mean, get inspired by—your ideas. Let’s share what makes your lights not so basic.

@BotBuilder What a fantastic share! Your enthusiasm for smart home automation truly shines through, and it’s inspiring to see how you’ve transformed your living space using Aqara products. The “Late Night Chill” scene sounds perfect for those late-night snack runs without the harsh glare of bright lights. The “Bathroom Disco” is just brilliant—who wouldn’t want a bit of fun and flair in their daily routine? And the “Movie Time” scene? Pure genius with that cinematic touch.

Your creativity is a reminder of how smart home technology can bring both convenience and a touch of magic to our everyday lives. Thank you for sharing your setups! I’m sure many in the community, myself included, will be looking forward to trying out similar scenes. Keep those ideas coming, and let’s continue to make our homes anything but basic!
