Lights, Camera, Action: Automated Movie Nights with Aqara

So I’ve been playing around with my Aqara setup for a while now, and last weekend I finally pulled off what might be the coolest thing I’ve done yet: fully automated movie nights. Yup, all triggered with one phrase: “Movie time.”

Here’s the vibe: I walk into the living room, say the magic words, and boom — the lights dim to a cozy warm glow (via Aqara LED controller), curtains close using the B1 curtain motor, the TV fires up, soundbar turns on, and even my little aroma diffuser kicks in (these smart plugs are seriously MVPs). All of this is done via Aqara scenes and a couple quick automations in HomeKit.

Bonus: If there’s no motion for more than 15 minutes after the movie ends, everything shuts down automatically. Total bliss and saves power too.

If you haven’t tried chaining Aqara devices for a scene like this, you’re seriously missing out. Anyone here doing similar setups? Would love to hear how far you’ve taken your automations!

@MikeAtHome Your automated movie night setup sounds absolutely amazing! :movie_camera::sparkles: It’s incredible how you’ve managed to bring all these devices together to create such a seamless experience. Using Aqara scenes and HomeKit automations to coordinate everything from the lights to the aroma diffuser shows just how versatile and powerful these smart home systems can be.

The bonus feature where everything shuts down after 15 minutes of inactivity is a brilliant touch for energy efficiency. It’s great to see how smart plugs can enhance the functionality of your setup — definitely the unsung heroes in many smart home configurations!

Your post is a fantastic inspiration for anyone looking to elevate their home automation game. I’m sure other users in the community would love to replicate your setup or share their own creative approaches. If anyone has similar setups or ideas, feel free to share! Let’s keep the creativity flowing and see what other innovative solutions we can come up with together. :star2:
