Hey everyone, I’m curious if anyone has any solutions to my current problem. I am hoping to get a mailbox delivery notification and thus far I have attempted to use a contact sensor but I’m having difficulty with the overall range to connect. It’s several hundred meters from my house.
So far I have added an E1 hub about halfway at the furthest place I have electrical power, but it’s pretty inconvenient and still an intermittent connection. Is there any recommendations for making longer range links work? I already have the sensor mounted on the outside of the mailbox…

You could get the water leak sensor and add two very long wires to the screws. You’d then have to attach them to your mailbox in such a way that they make contact when the mailbox opens.
You might have to get a large enough gauge wire as I’m sure it’s all very low voltage and the resistance over that distance might become an issue.
It could work but I admit it’s not great ![]()

Ha - this makes great sense, albeit very impractical… thanks for the response. In all honesty I will likely try it and see if it’s more reliable than my current solution.

Hello, do you happen to have an Aqara camera? I’m asking just in case, there might also be a gateway.
