I have an Aqara Doorbell G4. Last week it dropped the connection saying network error. I removed it from the Aqara App and Homekit. Then tried to re-add. Now it fails to add it to the wifi saying “Object not found”.
I’ve seen similar issues, where cycling the power of the G4 hub/chime solved the problem. Turn it off for a few seconds then turn it back on and wait for the red light. Fingers crossed you don’t have a faulty chime.
Pleased to report the issue is solved - at least it is diagnosed with a solution on its way. Placing the doorbell unit and the chime side by side on the table, with the doorbell running off batteries seemed to fix it. The camera paired with the Chime and the Chime paired with WiFi and streamed encrypted video. Tamper alarm went off and that was a challenge to reset - but eventually silenced. Re-installed everything and it stopped working.
Turns out the 18v AC supply to the doorbell is failing. It measures 18v when no load is attached, but drops to 4.5v when a load is connected (either the doorbell or the legacy intercom). At first I suspected the doorbell or intercom was drawing too much current, but the transformer in the house is still putting out 19v therefore the voltage drop is somewhere in the cable. I am now suspecting some corroded connection so will soon replace the cables to the street which (fortunately) are in conduit. Will see what happens.
I hope tech support take note that the original failure was reported as “Network Error” which led me in completely the wrong direction. If the chime fails to connect to to the doorbell when trying to stream a secure connection - it’s NOT a network error. Something more descriptive would be very helpful!
