Continuing the discussion from The Future of Smart Locks: Aliro Standard and Aqara U400 in 2026:
I have this new U400 lock and I must say I love it! I guess the headline feature is the UWB handsfree unlocking and it is cool. With the new firmware I adjusted the range about a meter and it works even better. Honestly, the finger print sensor is so fast I almost don’t need the UWB.
However, my favorite two features are actually it uses thread and has a rechargeable battery. Awesome. My previous lock was Wifi and it ate batteries. Installed my U400 on April 3rd and still have 80% battery as of June 9th.
For me the rechargeable battery is a huge improvement. We go out of town a lot and have a pet sitter check the pets and house. I’m always afraid of running out of battery power while I am gone and the pet sitter can’t get in. On the other hand I don’t want to replace batteries prematurely. With a rechargeable battery even if it’s 40% or something I can just top it up with a little charge before going out of town. Now no worries at all and no discarding half used batteries.
I love this lock. Now Aqara please come out with the same thing in a Latch style lock. UWB/Thread/Rechargeable Battery. I guess the U300 is a thread latch lock. If they add the UWB and rechargeable battery in the next version it will be perfect!
