I’m creating a new Aqara installation to manage access to my home’s doors. I purchased three Aqara Door and Windows Sensor P2 sensors. One of them consumed two CR123A batteries in less than three days.
I don’t think this is normal. The only difference, in my opinion, is that this sensor had been paired (in test mode) with the app’s alarm system function.
Do you have any experiences or opinions to help me resolve this issue? Should I return this sensor for a new one?
@mrochette01 It sounds like you’re experiencing unusually fast battery drain with one of your Aqara Door and Window Sensor P2 units. Based on the reference information, there are a couple of factors that might contribute to this issue:
Multiple Platform Connections: If your sensor is connected to different Matter platforms simultaneously, it can lead to rapid battery drain. You might want to verify if this is the case and disconnect from any unnecessary platforms.
Inaccurate Battery Level Display: Sometimes, the application may not accurately display the battery level. To determine if the battery is genuinely depleted, consider using a test tool to check the actual battery status.
Given these insights, you might want to try checking the connection settings and the battery status first. If the issue persists, it could potentially be a defective unit. In that case, returning it for a replacement might be a prudent step.

@mrochette01 It’s great to hear that you conducted tests with other new Aqara Door P2 sensors and found no battery drain issues with them. It sounds like you made a wise decision to return the sensor you suspected was defective. Monitoring the situation with your new sensor should give you a clear picture of its performance.
