I’m experiencing some significant issues with my Aqara M2 Hub and its connected devices.
I have approximately 80 devices connected to my M2 Hub. Recently, several problems have arisen:
Missing/Unresponsive Devices: Some devices frequently disappear from the hub and become unusable.
False Alarms & Mode Changes: My alarm system sometimes triggers on its own, and the security mode changes automatically without my input.
Inconsistent IR Remote Functionality: The IR remote function is unreliable; sometimes it works, and other times it doesn’t.
Failed Software Updates: I’m unable to receive software updates via Wi-Fi.
I have two main questions regarding these issues:
Is this a problem with my specific devices, or is it a broader system-wide issue with Aqara?
Is Aqara aware of these problems and actively working on a solution?
Thank you!
Good evening. In my opinion, you have too many devices for one hub, although m2 supports up to 128 devices but only with repeaters. Do you have repeater devices that operate from a 220v network?
@goson 1. Recommendation on Zigbee Router Device Count:
Ensure that the number of Zigbee Router devices (typically, AC-powered Zigbee devices excluding Single-wire Live versions) added under this Hub exceeds 15, enabling the hub to support connections with over 80 sub-devices.
Troubleshooting via Device Logs:
Please review device log records to identify if specific devices are triggering the issue.
Irregularities in Infrared Control:
Please check for potential obstructions or installation angle misalignment that might cause unstable infrared control performance.
Firmware Update Failure via Wi-Fi:
The inability to update device firmware over Wi-Fi may relate to router firewall settings or DNS configurations. Try modifying these settings to resolve the issue.
I have checked as you recommended. It used to work in the same location without any issues. Almost all the devices are with the m2 and I can’t delete the problematic device, nor can I add new devices. It always has problems every time the power is cut off in the house and then reconnected.
Thank you for the advice
I had something similar when they started turning off industrial lights frequently (the situation in Ukraine), I installed uninterruptible power supplies (low-voltage) for 5-12 volts to each gateway and router. How often does your industrial network disappear? After the network disappeared, my sensors periodically fell off, I had to wait more than an hour for the sensors to be connected (the information signal goes out on average every hour), for the automation to work I had to “re-judge” relays and switches. In your case, you need to look at it comprehensively, analyze where it all started, from what moment.
I have seen such situations with users and as soon as they divided such a number of devices into 2 hubs, the situation improved.
This may be related to some kind of repeater, and as is known, sensors are very reluctant to reconnect to other repeaters or do not switch at all
You need to look at the network topology to understand the cause of the problem. Contact support support@aqara.com they have all the necessary tools for this @goson
Sometimes the problem may be related to a poor quality power supply, try replacing it and checking it first.
I’m facing the same issues for sudden false alarms with water & vibrator sensors connected to Aqara M2 (even though updated to latest firmware) + Aqara plug-in hub repeater.
Already notified Aqara customer, gave them authorisation to condult my ZigBee network but no valid response/fix till now
May be they need to push all of us to M3 matter hub as usually done with repeated SW upgrade on some mobiles which overload memories, slow the response and then change is the only available exit…
All my devices (Hubs included) are connected to Aqara Europe server
I recently switched from a Hup M1 to an M1s because the buttons on the old one were broken. The M2’s sound is too quiet. I wonder if the M3 is waiting for me. You and I are comrades in this fight.
