Magic Switch S1E not working in EU region – any solutions without switching regions?

Hi everyone,

I could really use some advice :pray:

I recently bought an Aqara Magic Switch S1E (model CJPKG01LM).
The device works, but only when my region in the Aqara Home app is set to “Other” (or China).

The problem is that my entire existing setup (all hubs and a lot of devices) is on the Europe/Netherlands region, and I really don’t want to reset everything and move regions.

What I’m trying to achieve:

  • Keep my main setup in the EU region.
  • Still use the S1E screen and configure its buttons normally in the Aqara app.
  • Ideally have it control my existing devices (which are in EU).

What I’ve already tried / understand:

  • The S1E doesn’t show up in EU region at the moment.
  • Switching regions separates all devices.

Questions:

  1. Is there any way to get the S1E working in the EU region (even partially)?
  2. Has anyone successfully bridged between regions (EU + Other)?
  3. Any workaround that allows configuring S1E buttons without fully moving everything to “Other”?

Would really appreciate any experience or creative solutions!

Unfortunately you cannot. The only trick you can do is leave it in “other” region. So you would have two accounts - one with EU region, second with other region.

You can use HomeKit or HomeAssistant integration to connect both apps into one environment. You won’t get full features, but it will be partially usable

There are two versions available from the S1E

China version and an internal version!
China version you only can bind on China server… international version I could bind on Europe server as well - but not sure if Aqara changed that yet

So it definitely would be interesting where you bought it

I bought it second-hand, but I assume it originally came from AliExpress :roll_eyes:

So it will be just for China server. Post a pic from back or packaging

How sure are you that the other version can be added to UK/EU server?

That would be good because aqara refuses to make a 3 gang wall switch for UK market. Maybe I get a S1E in the meantime

I definitely have mine added to German server! But it was before region restrictions- but won’t unbind it now and test it :joy:
I just can tell you that it was possible

Your S1E looks like the Chinese version- I can show you mine when back home in a week

It seems you are now stuck in the relationship like I am. We shold form a support group for people held hostage by Aqara region restrictions.

Hello, I will be in your group. I think that if a user was once allowed to join the server officially (I’m talking about the E1 switch), then it should be for him until the end of using the device. Such a device should be whitelisted for him within his house for life (each device has its own unique ID). Due to a software failure, I had to get rid of one E1 switch.
I look at all these devices with great caution :joy::rofl:

I have Magic Switch S1E model MS-K01D on the Eu server, but since it is not whitelisted, it does not get updates and won’t unbind it :slight_smile:

An upgraded version is coming soon, Panel Hub AX100S - model number MP-K06D (MP-K07 with PoE ) with Matter. But but only for SEA/MEA market :frowning: Don’t know if anyone has tried Panel Switch S100 - MP-K04D on the EU server ?

That’s exactly my version @Stian …. So there’s definitely a difference between the international and China version @peledchen

I also would appreciate that the restrictions won’t change on existing devices like @gafich10 mentioned!!!
It’s not so good that it once worked and suddenly not anymore

You can still use your account but switch server then add it to HomeKit or what do you use and make setups from HomeKit directly .i have the Aqara air quality monitor S1 witch even if it is working great on EU I had to buy an Chinese hub and add it to my account but on Chinese server and I algo have it on my HomeKit from I can check the quality of my air from HomeKit without using aqara app on Chinese server. it’s an bummer to not be able to integrate this with existing Aqara devices on the EU server.
