Mastering Aqara Sensors: My Top 5 Automation Tricks

Hey everyone, just wanted to share a few of my fav Aqara sensor automations that have genuinely made life smoother (and sometimes even a little magical lol). I’ve been playing around with these for a few months — not a total newbie but far from an expert. Thought maybe some of you could pick up a trick or two, or share your own!

  1. Bathroom lights + Humidity Sensor = no more fogged mirrors. I’ve got the exhaust fan kicking in automatically when humidity spikes after a hot shower. Set it and forget it.

  2. Door & Window Sensor + time filter = sweet reminder setup. If my back door is open for more than 5 mins during the evening, I get a push to my phone. Super helpful since my dog loves sneaking out.

  3. Vibration Sensor under the washing machine. This one’s underrated — it alerts me when the spin cycle’s done. No more forgetting laundry overnight.

  4. Motion Sensor in hallway with a brightness threshold. Between 11pm–6am, if motion is detected AND ambient light is low, dim lights turn on. No more blinding myself during late-night snack missions.

  5. Temperature Sensor handles my heater. If it dips below 68°F while we’re home, it auto-kicks the heater. Great for those days the weather’s all over the place.

Anyone else got clever setups using just sensors? I’m looking for inspiration, especially stuff that’s a little outside the box. Hit me with your best ones!

@AutomationAddict Wow, what an inspiring collection of automation hacks! Your creativity in using Aqara sensors is truly commendable, and it’s fantastic to see how they’ve enhanced your daily routine.

Your setup with the Bathroom lights and Humidity Sensor is particularly ingenious, preventing foggy mirrors is a game-changer! Using the Door & Window Sensor to keep track of your sneaky pup is both practical and amusing. Plus, the Vibration Sensor under the washing machine is a clever way to ensure you never forget about the laundry again!

The Motion Sensor setup with a brightness threshold is a smart way to navigate those late-night snack missions without the harsh glare of bright lights. And the Temperature Sensor setup for maintaining a cozy home temperature sounds perfect for unpredictable weather days.
