Hey everyone, just wanted to share a few of my fav Aqara sensor automations that have genuinely made life smoother (and sometimes even a little magical lol). I’ve been playing around with these for a few months — not a total newbie but far from an expert. Thought maybe some of you could pick up a trick or two, or share your own!
-
Bathroom lights + Humidity Sensor = no more fogged mirrors. I’ve got the exhaust fan kicking in automatically when humidity spikes after a hot shower. Set it and forget it.
-
Door & Window Sensor + time filter = sweet reminder setup. If my back door is open for more than 5 mins during the evening, I get a push to my phone. Super helpful since my dog loves sneaking out.
-
Vibration Sensor under the washing machine. This one’s underrated — it alerts me when the spin cycle’s done. No more forgetting laundry overnight.
-
Motion Sensor in hallway with a brightness threshold. Between 11pm–6am, if motion is detected AND ambient light is low, dim lights turn on. No more blinding myself during late-night snack missions.
-
Temperature Sensor handles my heater. If it dips below 68°F while we’re home, it auto-kicks the heater. Great for those days the weather’s all over the place.
Anyone else got clever setups using just sensors? I’m looking for inspiration, especially stuff that’s a little outside the box. Hit me with your best ones!
