Matter device shared by M1S marked as fan not showing as fan

I have shared my Aqara devices to HomeKit using
Matter. One them ( a switch) controls a fan. I have indicated it is a fan in the Aqara app. Yet in HomeKit it shows as a light. HomeKit does not have the “show as” option for Aqara matter devices.

When the M1S Hub exposes the switch via Matter, it appears to categorise it as a “Light” device. Apple Home strictly adheres to this Matter definition. As the system recognises the device as a “Light” based on the Matter handshake, the “Display As” option is not shown. It ignores the setting you made in the Aqara app because this information isn’t synced to Apple Home via Matter.

To get the “Display as” option (so you can select “Fan”, “Light”, or “Outlet”), try connecting the M1S Hub to Apple Home using the native HomeKit integration instead of Matter.
