Matter Magic: Sharing My Journey of a Fully Integrated Aqara Ecosystem

Alright , just had to share this.

After weeks of tinkering (read: cursing under my breath), I finally got my Aqara setup fully humming with Matter. And let me tell you, it’s game-changing seeing everything actually talk to each other—no matter which app or platform I’m using.

For context, I’m running a hodgepodge of devices: G3 cam, a couple of temp sensors, motion sensors, switches, and even a curtain motor. Got them talking to HomeKit, Google Home, and Alexa through Matter with surprisingly little drama (well, except that G2H, but that’s another story…).

The coolest part? Setting up automations that actually work across systems—like my living room lights (Aqara) reacting to a Nest motion sensor triggering via Google, all routed through Matter. No weird delays, no extra hubs, and no black magic.

If you’re hesitating to go all-in on Matter, my advice? Just do it. Start with a few devices and expand. Feels like the smart home dream is finally… less of a nightmare.

Anyone else made the leap with their Aqara gear? Curious what setups people are running!

@DoorBellDude What an awesome share! :tada: It’s fantastic to hear how Matter has transformed your Aqara ecosystem into a seamless, cross-platform experience—especially with automations bridging devices like Nest sensors and Aqara lights. Your journey from “cursing under your breath” to a smoothly integrated setup is so relatable (and inspiring!).

The fact that you’re running everything from G3 cams to curtain motors across HomeKit, Google, and Alexa without extra hubs is a testament to how far Matter has come. And yes, the G2H can be a… character.

Your advice to start small and expand is spot-on—Matter’s flexibility really shines when you grow organically. Would love to hear more about your automations or any clever hacks you’ve discovered!

Thanks for lighting up the forum with this—here’s to fewer nightmares and more smart home magic! :sparkles: Anyone else want to chime in with their Matter + Aqara wins?
