Hi all, I run a not for profit blog, just so people can benefit from my experience of setting up a smart home… which I’ve done twice now. Once in the USA and once in the UK. It;s not a review site, but concentrates on my experience and does get into my automations, etc.
Having said that, I wrote a blog piece on Matter when it came out, and have been updating it with every release since.
For those that have gone a bit more sophisticated, I run Apple Home and Home Assistant. HA, I run on a virtual server on an old (Intel) Mac mini. This has thrown up some interesting issues specifically to do with Thread. I cover that in this blog post.
Thanks for sharing, I didn’t know (or didn’t notice, my bad) you had a blog. Good read, very detailed.
If I had only read your FP2 story before, I wouldn’t have left a hole in the wall after adjusting the sensor’s position Wife was not happy with my smart home upgrade this time
Because I put the FP2 on the wall before pairing it in the app - I wanted to just finish the dirty work and then just add the device and finish configuration.
But only when I got to the configuration in the app I realized it should be angled at 45° in the corner and the Aqara logo has to be horizontal… I mounted it on the wall and rotated it, so it was angled at 45°, but the logo was vertical.
So I had to remove the plate and buy a new angled bracket (just like you showed in the post). Your screenshots from the app would also be very helpful for me if I had seen it before.
Unfortunately the manual was not clear about the details of how to mount the FP2 in the corner and that’s why I made this mistake.
ah, don’t knock yourself too much. When the fp2 first came out, it didn’t even support corner installation. Then it did, but there was no official bracket (That I could find) so I had to use a 3d printed one from eBay. Now there is an official bracket.
