Matter: The Future of Connected Home Devices

Hey there! I’ve gotta say, Matter is truly shaping up to be the future of connected home devices. I’ve been using Matter - enabled devices in my home for a while now, and it’s been a game - changer.

With Matter, all my smart devices work together seamlessly. Whether it’s turning on the lights, adjusting the thermostat, or locking the doors, everything is just a tap or a voice command away. It’s like having a personal assistant for my home.

I no longer have to worry about compatibility issues between different brands of smart devices. Matter has unified the ecosystem, making it so much easier to manage and expand my smart home setup.

If you’re still on the fence about upgrading your home to a smart one, I highly recommend diving into the world of Matter. Trust me, once you experience it, you won’t want to go back to the old way of doing things.

I agree, matter via thread has significant improved over time but stills lots of supports for video and audio missing ( camera) and matter over WiFi doesn’t support energy monitoring features as many company such as TP-Link use matter over WiFi instead of thread which can cause lots of confusion for general use.

As not every company are using thread protocol instead prefer WiFi.
@AqaraOfficial still hasn’t realised the official supported of matter for its zigbee devices

I thought that electricity monitoring was already in Matter version 1.3. @Aqara_water

Most Aqara switches and plugs have already supported energy monitoring in Matter. And most Aqara Zigbee devices can support Matter through Matter Bridge, which product you refer to that not supported?

@Peng I prefer to use Thread devices instead Zigbee devices. Consider HomeKit and Aqara hub sharing the same Thread network with Matter over Thread devices shared between both Matter controllers or a Zigbee device exposed as a Matter device through the Aqara hub?

Currently Zigbee device can’t be exposed as a Matter device. And Aqara and Apple Home are different Matter Fabrics, it’s difficult to share the same Thread network. I think you can add the Aqara Hub as Matter Bridge in Apple Home and Zigbee devices can be added through matter bridge
