Maximizing Backyard Lighting with Govee: A Creative Solution

As the days grow shorter, I’ve been thinking a lot about how to make the most of my backyard during the evening hours. We have a beautiful succulent garden that takes up most of our space, but after sundown, it’s pitch black. My wife and I wanted to light it up with colorful Govee lights, but there was a challenge: the garden is quite large and quite a distance (~15 ft) from the only outdoor power outlet on the far end. We really didn’t want to have too many ugly extension cords all over the place.

Our goal was to use only one continuous strip of light if possible. But this meant that strip of light would have to be at least ~90 ft long to cover 3 sides of the garden. Unfortunately, none of Govee’s ground lights are long enough. We were looking at the Govee Allure Ground Light, but it’s way too short (only 36 ft) and not long enough to cover even one long side of our garden. Since they cannot be daisy-chained back to back, this option was no good.

After some research and brainstorming, we found a creative solution! We decided to use a combination of shorter strips and strategically placed wireless lights to cover the entire garden without the need for extension cords. We also invested in some durable, weatherproof connectors to ensure everything stays powered up even during rain or snow.

The result? Our backyard now glows beautifully in the evenings, and we’ve been able to enjoy our garden well into the night. It’s been a fun project, and I’m excited to share more details as we continue to refine our setup. If anyone has tips or alternative solutions, I’d love to hear them!
