Maximizing Your Aqara Home Setup Without an Apple Device

Hey y’all, just wanted to share some wins (and headaches) from setting up my Aqara devices—completely Apple-free.

So yeah, I’m that guy with zero Apple gear. No iPhone, no iPad, no Mac. Only Android and a Windows laptop. Thought I’d hit a wall… surprise: didn’t. It took some digging, but turns out there’s life beyond HomeKit.

I’m running everything through the Aqara Home app on Android, paired with the M2 hub, and got it talking nice with Alexa and Google Home. Scenes? Automations? Yep. Motion sensors to toggle lights, door sensors giving alerts, even tied it into my air purifier setup. All on Android.

Pro tip: skip trying to sync anything through HomeKit if you don’t have an iPhone. It’s doable without, and once you tame the app, it actually gives you a lot of control. Push notifications work great too.

Curious if anyone else out here is running a totally Apple-free home with Aqara? What’s been your trickiest part—and how’d you get around it?
