Hi everyone, I wanted to share my experience with integrating the Mi Magic Cube into my Home Assistant setup. It’s a fantastic Zigbee device that adds a whole new layer of automation to my smart home. Here’s how I got it working smoothly!
First, I paired the cube with my Conbee II gateway and set it up as a switch in deCONZ. The key was understanding the cube’s events. By default, each face of the cube triggers specific events, and I mapped these to different actions in my automations. For example, turning the cube to face 1 triggers a light toggle, while a double tap on face 3 adjusts the thermostat.
I also faced a challenge with my Zigbee2Mqtt setup after upgrading to Home Assistant 5. The error message Failed to connect to the adapter (Error: SRSP - SYS - ping after 6000ms) kept appearing. After some research, I realized the issue was with the dongle’s firmware. Upgrading the Sonoff Dongle-P to the latest firmware resolved the problem, and now everything works like a charm!
For anyone looking to integrate the Mi Magic Cube, I recommend experimenting with the cube’s orientations and events. It’s a bit tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, the possibilities are endless. Plus, painting each face a different color makes it easier to visualize which action corresponds to which face!
I’d love to hear how others are using the Mi Magic Cube or if you’ve encountered similar Zigbee2Mqtt issues. Let’s keep the conversation going and share our smart home automation successes!
Cheers,
