Hello everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience migrating from SmartThings to Home Assistant. As many of you might know, the transition from the classic SmartThings app to the new one has been a bit challenging for me. I’ve been using SmartThings for a while now, but I’ve heard great things about Home Assistant and decided to give it a try.
The process wasn’t without its hurdles. I’ve been researching the best way to transfer my devices, especially my Tuya-based bulbs, without reflashing them. I tried HubConnect, but I couldn’t get it to work with the new SmartThings app. After some research, I found that the best approach for me was to set up Home Assistant with the Tuya integration directly.
One of the things I was most worried about was losing my existing automations and scenes. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Home Assistant’s configuration system is incredibly flexible and user-friendly. I’ve been able to recreate all my routines with ease, and the community support has been amazing.
I’d like to thank everyone in this community for their invaluable help and resources. It’s clear that Home Assistant has a vibrant and supportive community, which makes the transition much smoother. If anyone is considering making the switch, I highly recommend checking out the official documentation and the countless tutorials available here.
I’m still exploring all the features Home Assistant has to offer, but I’m already impressed with its capabilities and the level of customization it provides. It’s definitely a learning curve, but one that’s worth it for the enhanced control and flexibility it offers.
If anyone has any questions or needs help with their migration, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to share what I’ve learned so far. Happy automating! ![]()
