Migrating from Sonoff to SkyConnect: A Smooth Transition with a Few Hiccups

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience migrating from the Sonoff Zigbee Dongle Plus to the Home Assistant SkyConnect. Overall, the process was incredibly smooth thanks to the ‘Migrate Radio’ feature. All my 14 devices transferred seamlessly, and I was really impressed by how user-friendly the whole process was. However, I’ve encountered a few bumps along the way that I’d like to discuss.

After the migration, I decided to try pairing some new devices to expand my setup. The first device I tried was the LoraTap 4-button remote. I already had one working perfectly with the Sonoff dongle, and it continued to function after the migration. But when I attempted to pair a new one, things didn’t go as planned. The pairing seemed successful at first glance, but when I checked the device logs, no button presses were registered beyond the initial setup. This has been an ongoing issue for over half a year, and I’m not sure if it’s related to updates in the ZHA protocol or something else entirely.

Next, I tried pairing a Philips Hue Dimmer Switch, which worked without any issues. That was a relief! However, when I moved on to the Aqara Opple Wireless Scene Switch 6 Button, I ran into the same problem as with the LoraTap. The pairing appeared successful, but no button presses were registered in the logs or through the zha_event listener. Looking at the ZigBee network visualization, the problematic remotes don’t show any connection to the coordinator, which is puzzling since the Philips switch does.

I’ve considered setting up the old Sonoff dongle on a Raspberry Pi to test if the devices can connect there, but that would require reinstalling Home Assistant and setting everything up again, which is a bit time-consuming. I’m hoping someone in the community has encountered a similar issue and can offer some insights or troubleshooting steps.

If anyone has dealt with this or has any ideas on how to resolve it, I’d be incredibly grateful for your advice. Let’s see if we can figure this out together! :handshake:
