Migrating HassOS and Exploring Smart Lighting

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent journey of migrating my HassOS installation from an SD card to an SSD. While the process seemed straightforward, I ran into a few roadblocks along the way. I tried using the backup/restore method, but unfortunately, my backups were too old and the supervisor kept throwing errors. I ended up manually copying files from the SD card to the SSD, but it wasn’t without its challenges. The partition table was a hybrid MBR/GPT, and booting after the copy was a nightmare. I had to copy the first 2048 sectors and deal with a corrupted GPT, but I managed to get it working in the end. It was a bit stressful, but also a great learning experience!

On another note, I’ve been experimenting with my Govee light strip in the staircase. I want the lights to start at the bottom and move up as soon as motion is detected, staying on until there’s no movement. I’ve attached a video link to the effect I’m aiming for. I’ve tried a few things in the Gove app, but I’m not quite there yet. If anyone has tips or has achieved something similar, I’d love to hear about it!

I also stumbled upon a discussion about Z-Wave Plus dimmers not updating levels when receiving digital commands. I have a few of these myself, and it’s been a bit of a nuisance. I’d love to know if there’s a way to fix this without resorting to polling, as that feels a bit hacky. Any insights would be appreciated!

Overall, I’m really enjoying the flexibility and customization that my smart home setup offers. It’s amazing how these devices can enhance daily life, from automating lights to controlling the HVAC system. I’m looking forward to exploring more possibilities and maybe even diving into some DIY projects in the future. Thanks to everyone in the community for the support and inspiration!
