Hello everyone, I’m currently in the process of migrating to a new ISY994i and I’m encountering a bit of confusion regarding the INSTEON PLM restore process. Let me walk you through my experience and see if anyone can shed some light on this for me.
I’ve been following the migration instructions step by step. After restoring from my old ISY994i in Step 5, I decided to skip Step 6 since I’m not migrating Z-Wave devices. Now, I’m at Step 7, which involves INSTEON support. The first part of this step checks out fine, but the second bullet point is where I’m getting stuck.
The instruction says, ‘If you are using a new PLM, RESTORE the PLM.’ However, I’m not using a new PLM—I’m using the same one that worked perfectly with my old ISY994i. My concern is whether I still need to perform this restore. None of my INSTEON devices seem to be affected during the backup restore process, and they remain in their current states (on or off). I want to ensure I’m not missing any crucial steps here.
I’ve tried to research this online, but most resources either assume you’re using a new PLM or don’t address this specific scenario. I’m wondering if the restore is still necessary even with the same PLM or if it’s redundant in this case. I also want to confirm that skipping this step won’t cause any issues down the line with my INSTEON devices.
I appreciate any insights or experiences others might have gone through with a similar migration. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but I’m excited to get everything up and running smoothly on my new ISY994i!
