Migrating to Homey Pro: Tips for Managing Large Networks

I’ve recently made the switch from Futurehome to Homey Pro, and I must say, it’s been an exciting journey! After struggling with my extensive network of 130+ Z-Wave devices and 10+ Zigbee devices on Futurehome, I was hopeful that Homey Pro 2023 would offer the performance and reliability I needed. While the transition has been mostly smooth, there have been a few bumps along the way that I’d like to share and discuss with the community.

One of the main challenges I’ve encountered is managing the sheer number of devices without experiencing slowness or connectivity issues. My Z-Wave network consists mostly of Fibaro Dimmer 2/Double Switch 2, Aeotec Multisensor 6, Heatit Z-TRM3 thermostats, Sensative Strips Guard, Qubino and Fibaro smartplugs, among others. I’ve heard that some of these devices can be known to cause trouble in large networks, but I’m not entirely sure how to identify or address these issues.

During my research, I came across some adjustments that Futurehome support made to my Aeotec MS6s and Heatit thermostats to alleviate similar problems. However, I’m not exactly sure what those adjustments were or how to replicate them on Homey Pro. If anyone has experience with optimizing these specific devices or has general tips for managing large Z-Wave/Zigbee networks, I’d be incredibly grateful for your insights!

Another thing I’ve been curious about is whether there are any recommended parameter adjustments or network optimizations that can be made on Homey Pro to ensure smooth operation. I’ve read that proper network configuration can make a world of difference, but I’m not entirely sure where to start. Should I be tweaking certain settings on my Zigbee coordinator, or are there specific Z-Wave network parameters that require attention?

If anyone has successfully managed a large network on Homey Pro or has any best practices to share, please don’t hesitate to chime in! I’m always eager to learn and improve my setup. Let’s collaborate to make the most out of our Homey Pro experiences!
