I recently made the switch from SmartThings to Hubitat, and it’s been an exciting journey! 
Migrating all my Z-Wave devices was a breeze, but I did run into a few bumps along the way. Here’s what I discovered and how I overcame them.
First, setting up the dashboard in Hubitat was a game-changer for me. I replicated my SmartThings layout using ActionTiles, and it looks even better now! 
I’ve included my main dashboard, lighting controls, motion sensors, and weather widgets for easy access. The integration with third-party apps has been seamless, and I love how customizable everything is.
One challenge I faced was ensuring all my devices communicated properly. I had to manually reconfigure a few sensors to sync with the new hub, but the Hubitat support community was super helpful. They suggested checking the Z-Wave network health regularly, which I now do to prevent any future issues.
For anyone looking to make the switch, here are a few tips:
- Backup First: Always backup your current setup before migrating.
- Test Each Device: After migration, test each device to ensure it’s working as expected.
- Leverage Scenes: Create scenes for common routines to save time and simplify control.
