Hello everyone, I’ve been exploring ways to monitor the temperature of my Shelly Plug S devices while keeping the Alexa integration intact. I’ve got several Shelly Plug S units installed around the house, controlling appliances like the refrigerator and dishwasher. While the Alexa integration works seamlessly, I was frustrated because I couldn’t access the temperature data in Home Assistant, which only showed the overheating status check.
After some research, I discovered that using MQTT could provide the necessary temperature readings. However, I was hesitant because switching to MQTT would mean losing the Alexa integration. Thankfully, I found a solution that allows both MQTT and Cloud connectivity to coexist. By configuring the Shelly Plug S to use MQTT alongside the existing Cloud setup, I can now monitor temperatures in Home Assistant without compromising Alexa control.
This setup has been a game-changer for me, especially during peak usage times when appliances generate more heat. I’m now able to keep an eye on temperature fluctuations and ensure everything runs smoothly. I’d like to thank the community for the wealth of information and support, which made this project possible. If anyone has further tips or experiences to share, I’d love to hear them!
