Hello everyone, I’m currently working on a solar energy monitoring project and I’d love to share my setup and seek some advice. I have two Fronius IG 70 Plus inverters installed in my home, each connected to a two-phase power supply. My goal is to monitor the energy output of both inverters separately using Shelly devices.
I initially tried using two Shelly EM units with 50A clamps, but encountered an issue where one phase consistently showed negative values. After some research, I realized that this might be due to the inverters processing strings separately per phase, leading to differing power levels. This made me think that measuring the neutral line would be essential for accurate readings.
This led me to consider the Shelly Pro 3EM, which comes with three clamps. I’m wondering if this device can indeed monitor both inverters separately, allowing me to detect any issues with individual strings. Here are my specific questions:
- Can I use two Shelly Pro 3EM devices to monitor both inverters independently?
- How should I configure the clamps, especially for the neutral line?
- What is the optimal way to connect the clamps for each inverter to ensure accurate measurements?
I’ve included a detailed installation plan in the post, but I’d appreciate any insights or tips from anyone who has successfully set up a similar system. Your expertise would be invaluable as I aim to optimize my solar energy monitoring setup.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Best regards,
Scheitholz
