I’ve been absolutely thrilled with the Monocle skill for Alexa! As someone who uses Samsung SmartCam cameras, I was struggling to integrate them seamlessly into my smart home setup. Monocle has been a lifesaver, allowing me to view my camera feeds directly on my Amazon Echo Show and Fire TV Stick with just a simple voice command like ‘Alexa, show CameraName.’
What’s even better is that it works with both older and newer firmware versions, whether or not the camera is connected to SmartThings. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now, and it’s been incredibly reliable. The only caveat is that it requires the camera and the viewing device to be on the same LAN, so it’s not a remote viewing option. But for local monitoring, it’s perfect!
I’m now considering expanding my setup by purchasing more Fire TV Sticks when they go on sale. It’s such a clever solution, and I hope Monocle continues to develop and refine this feature. Kudos to the developers for creating such a seamless integration!
If anyone else has tips or experiences with Monocle, I’d love to hear about them. Let’s keep the positive momentum going!
